Solfrid Grav

Solfrid Grav is a native Norwegian. She was born on December 29th, year 1958 in Malvik in Sør-Trøndelag. Malvik is close to Trondheim in the middle of Norway. At the moment she lives with her family on the small island of Hisøy, which is part of the city of Arendal. Arendal is located on the South, East coast of Norway. Her studio is also situated in this beautiful, picturesque village.
I would describe Solfrid as a very creative and expressive person. Her inspiration comes from her daily experiences, the communication between people, music and lyrical poetry. She constantly tries to visualize her ideas. Her work is modern and abstract. The characteristic features in her work are the figurative forms. In her paintings you will recognize the use of different kind of textures, she likes to experiment with all sorts of modeling paste’s, for instant mixed with glass or sand. Marble dust is another substance she likes to ad to her paints. The use of these media’s gives her paintings a 3 dimensional effect. You can visit the gallery on her website, where you can look at a collection of some of her paintings.
Solfrid Grav had her first solo exhibition in Houston, Texas in 2002.In 2003 she joined the World Trade Center Memorial Competition, and the proposal you can find on the website www.wtcsitememorial.org . In Norway she has participating in exhibitions in Arendal, Kristiansand, Malvik, Trondheim and Oslo. She has sold paintings to collectors from Netherlands, Malaysia, Poland, USA, Venezuela and Norway.

She has her education in art from Norway and Houston, Texas.
